Black is black …

Back to overview

Often we are afraid of using black in a colour study, quite simply because it is a non-colour.

So why use a non-colour? Well, because it enhances and gives depth to spaces. In this context, black was in the form of code: S 8500-N.

It was positioned at the end of the corridor to create a frame for the staircase which was coloured with shade S 4500-N.

The dark colour continues on the first floor and allows a link with the ground floor. All these colours go with the existing floorcovering on the ground floor (tiles) and on the first floor (deck), which creates overall harmony. For the finishing touch, the colour S 1002-Y50R is used as the foundation.

To play with the bright light coming from the front door, the partition opposite was painted in gold/copper. All the accessories allude to this shade to allow an interplay of reflections of the daylight.
